Perhaps a smaller task, but non the less challenging. Finicky and awkward positions of fasteners made for a longer than expected item to check off the list. 

With his shaky hand Alec perseveres, starting with the removal of the steering wheel. Again memories from our trip came flooding back.

“He gritted his teeth as he quickly put the gear into four-wheel drive and accelerated sufficiently to carry the Land-Rover forward. He turned the steering wheel steadily leftwards as the wheels turned and climbed tentatively towards the top of the hill. I hung on for dear life, holding my breath as I prayed to God that we would make it.”

The indicator and light stalk, ignition, and steering lock had to come off one at a time, before taking on the stubborn steering column. Finally, with a little cheer, the column came free through the front side.

Another job done.
